1st parameters with the ideal indices for disinfecting pool water: pool pH
Ideal pool pH level
- The ideal pH level for a swimming pool is between 7,2 and 7,6. This range is optimal for both swimmers and pool equipment. Anything outside this range can cause irritation or even damage to swimmers and equipment.
- pH: Measures the acidity or alkalinity of water. The ideal range for pH is 7,2 to 7,6.
- Total dissolved solids: Measures the amount of minerals dissolved in the water. The ideal range for total dissolved solids is 1500 to 2000 ppm.
2nd parameter ideal pool water values: chlorine
Correct level for pools disinfected with chlorine
The ideal chlorine level for a pool is between 1 and 3 ppm (parts per million).
This ensures that the water is safe to swim in while preventing algae growth.
- Total chlorine value: 1,5ppm.

4th Pool cyanuric acid values
- Cyanuric acid: This substance stabilizes the chlorine in pool water and helps protect it from UV rays.
- The ideal range for cyanuric acid is 30 to 50 ppm.
5th Calcium hardness level ideal for a swimming pool
- Measures the amount of calcium dissolved in water.
- This range helps prevent corrosion of pool surfaces and also keeps the water crystal clear.
- The ideal calcium hardness level for a swimming pool is between 200 and 400 ppm.
6th Ideal pool alkalinity range
- Alkalinity: This is a measure of water's ability to neutralize acids. The ideal range for alkalinity is 80 to 120 ppm (parts per million).

8º Pool turbidity values
- Turbidity is an important parameter of water quality in swimming pools. It is a measure of suspended solids in water and can be used to indicate the presence of algae, bacteria and other contaminants. Turbidity levels should be monitored regularly to ensure the pool is safe for swimming.
- The recommended range for turbidity in swimming pools is -1 to 0 NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units).
- Levels above 5 NTU can cause eye and skin irritation, and may also interfere with chlorine disinfection.
- If you suspect that your pool's turbidity levels are high, you should take a sample of the water and send it to a laboratory for testing. There are several ways to reduce turbidity levels in swimming pools, including filtration, skimming, and chemical treatment.
9º How should the transparency of the pool water be?
- Ideal pool water transparency: when we look at the bottom of the pool we must be able to distinguish the drain (sink) perfectly.
10º Ideal temperature for pool water
- The preferable temperature for the water in an outdoor pool is: 24 – 30ºC.

12th Salt Level
- The ideal range of salt in a pool disinfected with salt chlorinator should be: Between 3000 and 6000 mg/l
13º Humidity control in indoor pools
- The supply of outside air must be protected (filtered) to avoid external contamination of the pool.
- The humidity parameter recommendation is between 60-65% RH and the room temperature 1 or 2 ºC above that of the water in the glass.
14º Carbon dioxide in the pool
- The range of the carbon footprint in the pool should be approximately: ≤500 mg/m3
