Pool clarifier: pool turbidity remover. Better than flocculant

Pool clarifier: discover the differences between the use of flocculant and pool clarifier, their formats, etc. Clarifiers help the filter trap those small particles that are clouding the water, collecting them and putting them together to form larger particles (that your filter can trap).

Clarifier and flocculant are two of the most popular choices when you need to clean a pool as quickly as possible, but they may not be the best alternative for regular maintenance due to the saturation they cause in the pool water in the form of isocyanuric acid.

cloudy pool water

What to do when I have cloudy water in the pool?

If you have a pool, you know that one of the most annoying things about it is cloudiness.

This is when the water becomes cloudy and unclear, making it difficult to see the bottom. There are a few different ways to get rid of cloudiness, but one of the most effective is to use a pool clarifier. A pool clarifier is a chemical that helps bind particles in the water, making them larger and easier to filter.

There are a few things to keep in mind when using a pool clarifier. First, be sure to carefully follow the instructions on the package. Second, keep in mind that clarifiers can cause your chlorine levels to drop, so you may need to add more chlorine after using one. Finally, clarifiers can sometimes make your pool water a little cloudy, so be sure to check the water clarity before using one.

If you are looking for an easy way to get rid of cloudiness, a pool clarifier is a great option. Just be sure to follow the instructions and be aware of possible side effects before using one.

The pool clarifier acts as a pool anti-algae preventative.

What is the difference between flocculant and pool clarifier?

  • So as you can see throughout our entry, if time is not against you and therefore is not the most important factor, the clarifier will allow you to clean your pool without the need for manual work on your part.
  • However, if you are in a pinch, flocculant is without a doubt the quickest method to achieve this.

How to flocculate a pool

What is flocculant, when to use it and how to flocculate a pool

Pool flocculant has quickly become a favorite because… it's fast! The concept is simple. The flocculant takes all those particles that contribute to cloudy water and sinks them to the bottom of the pool. So as you can imagine, this implies two things:

  • It allows you to clean the pool much faster than with other methods.
  • It requires you to remove any waste that has settled to the bottom yourself.

When it comes to cleaning a pool, your filter can handle most tasks without any problem, but there are some minor details that it is not capable of taking care of.

Clarifiers help the filter trap those small particles that are clouding the water, collecting them and putting them together to form larger particles (that your filter can trap).

If you have a pool whose water is cloudy and you decide to use a clarifier, run the filter 24 hours a day until the pool is clear. Additionally, since your filter is doing most of the work, you must help it by introducing those particles that it is not able to retain due to its small size.

Pool clarifier characteristics

  • Firstly, Pool clarifier has an action very similar to pool flocculant; They are very similar because they both help remove fine particles and help the filter trap them.
  • Even if, the clarifier works with coagulant but with permanently low flocculation.
  • So, the main difference between clarifier and flocculant for swimming pools is the action time (it does not have such imminent results).
  • Unlike flocculant, pool clarifier does not require manual collection after application, but the dirt is collected by the filter.
  • On the other hand, the result of the action of the pool clarifying product is independent of the water temperature.
  • Especially, If you are going to use the pool clarifier, you must leave the pool purifier running for 24 hours.
  • However, it must be taken into account that Excess or abuse of the clarifier is highly counterproductive for the cleaning of the pool.. Since the particles can repel each other instead of grouping together to be filtered. For this reason, it is so important to control the appropriate amounts of clarifying agent that should be added to the pool.

In summary, the advantages of the pool clarifier are endless because in addition to having an immediate effect, its water-soluble film format dissolves in a few minutes and its long-term effectiveness allows you to forget about maintenance for longer.

Strengths of the pool water clarifier

  • The pool water clarifier is an ultra-concentrated product which optimizes the filtration fineness of sand, cartridge and pocket filters up to 5 microns.
  • Clarifies pool water and reduces filtration time by up to 50%.
  • In addition, the pool clarifier is compatible with all pool water treatments, with or without chlorine, and with all types of pools.
  • They reduce the consumption of chlorinated products and algaecides.
  • This clarifier acts in a few hours, is odorless and does not cause discomfort to the bather.
  • On the other hand, it replaces all liquid, powder or bag flocculants.
  • Finally, it is also used to eliminate greenish spores of algae suspended in water, where the coloration darkens the peripheral precipitates.

How the pool clarifier works

How the pool clarifier works

Pool clarifier working principle

The pool clarifier keeps the water in your pool crystal clear and from becoming cloudy.

Fundamentally, its main benefit is that, by recycling the water, we save a lot of time cleaning and maintaining it.

You will immediately see that it is very easy to use.

But, basically, the operation of the pool clarifier is based on the fact that when placed in the skimmer basket it swells in contact with water to form a stable gelatinous mass that dissolves slowly.

The fine particles suspended in the water are regrouped by electrostatic attraction and form filterable precipitates (soil, dust, acid rain, algae spores, various organic materials).

Steps to follow when using the pool clarifier

How to use pool clarifier

  1. Keep your pool filter running for 12 or 48 hours. If the water is not yet completely crystallized, it is appropriate to add pool clarifier.
  2. When you place the clarifier, it is important that you let the pool water settle so that the particles that generate turbidity in the water come together. You can leave it parked for 6 to 12 hours. This prevents dirt from remaining on the surface, preventing the filter from absorbing it. It is recommended to do this in the evening so that it takes effect during the night.
  3. Not all pools have the same capacity. This is why you must take into account when adding the correct amount, how many liters of water your pool has. The packaging of the pool clarifier shows how much should be added for a certain number of liters. It is important to comply with the stipulated quantities, since adding more can disorder the pH of the water. Generally the appropriate amount is 1 liter of pool clarifier for 200.000 liters of water.
  4. Next, turn on the pool filter so it can absorb all the particles that the pool clarifier collected.
  5. Finally, measure that the chemicals in your pool water are back to normal levels. You're ready to swim!

Considerations when using the clpool arifier

  • Contact with skin should be avoided and kept out of reach of children.
  • When you have finished the treatment, the pH of the water should be between 7,2 and 7,6 so that it is suitable for swimming again.
  • If you do not have an installation that allows water circulation, when you add the pool clarifier, try to mix it manually with some elongated element so that the product is dispersed correctly.
